1. Clean your gutters- Cleaning your gutters is important because that build up can block the water that needs to run off your roof during a storm.
2. Inspect the foundation of your home- Inspect your foundation for any cracks were water can seep in during a storm.
3. Check your yard for dead or diseased trees- During a storm, there are strong winds and rain that can tear down dead or weak trees that can come crashing into your home causing significant damage.
4. Have your roof inspected every year
5. Secure furniture that could potentially fall
6. Pack up outdoor furniture
7. Think about your landscaping
8. Unplug all electronics
9. Know how to shut off your utilities
10. Shutter your windows
11. Identify safe rooms in your home
12. Watch the weather
13. Create an emergency disaster kit.
